RED RIBBON WEEK
WEEK OF OCTOBER 24th
Since its beginning in 1985, Red Ribbon Week has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the kill and destruction cause by drugs in America. Today, Red Ribbon Week serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participate in drug prevention activities. http://redribbon.org/about/
Students at Central Middle School will be participating in a variety of activities during Red Ribbon Week. The 7th grade students will be participating in a team day with the help of ME360. ME360 is an educational strategy developed by PMP (Prevention Means Progress) to present information on all drugs of abuse.
We are asking parents to partner with us during Red Ribbon Week in talking to your children about the dangers of using drugs and alcohol.
