In January, ELL students participating in the After School program went to Do Space, an interactive experience with technology. The activities empowered our students to use creativity and curiosity with hands-on activity technology kits. They got to use a Dash and Dot robot, make and mobilize Cubelet robots, play games on the OSMO iPad app, and build with the Goldiblox kit. Then, we got to see a 3D printer in action! It was making a little toy top, but we got to see other 3D creations like a robotic hand, toys, statues, and a real working violin! Students tried their musical skills on the violin!
In February, the ELL students participating in the ELL After School program will be going swimming at the YMCA. We are looking forward to this annual event.
Each year, we participate in making fleece blankets for Project Harmony and this year was no exception. They completed the service project and worked on building their 40 Developmental Assets – Empowerment, Positive Values, and Positive Identity.
We are also preparing to take the English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA21). This is a state assessment given each year to show students’ proficiency in the area of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Good luck to our students!
